Knitting and Crochet

Gabriela and I are taking a Sunday afternoon knitting and crochet class at the Richmond Art Center. She has been asking about knitting for a while and this became the perfect chance for us to spend some special time together.

We are both really enjoying class. We started with finger knitting, and then arm knitting with huge yarn. This was super fun.
Now we are on crochet and last is knitting. Special mama time and building new skills together. I am so glad we found this class.

Homeschool Valentines Fun

Our friend, Amber organized a Valentine's Day party for some of our homeschool friends. The kids passed out valentines, picnicked, climbed trees, and chased each other around.

We had fun ahead of time crafting our valentines. Easton was so cute, passing his out. He wouldn't put down his bag for anything!

After one kid gave him a valentine, Easton gave one of his saying, "here's your thank you card".

We were at Briones Park. Everything there was so lush and green. Here they all are.

Tilden Park Visit

We were looking forward to a visit with Uncle Noal and Auntie Elizabeth. They came to our house for lunch and then we headed off to Little Farm. Easton had been asking for quite a while to go back. After feeding the cows and sheep and goats, we took a walk around Jewel Lake.
It was a beautiful sunny day. The kids ran ahead, climbed trees, inspected the mud, spotted turtles, and just enjoyed their outside time.

I was even there.
Willow missed her Uncle Noal.

Super Hero Fieldtrip

Our friend invited us to a field trip to the Bedford Gallery in Walnut Creek to see s super hero art exhibit. It was perfect timing since we had just finished trading a book about some children who run away and live at a museum.

The big kids went in one group and the littles in another. I love how Hazel came in her superhero costume. The guide talked about mixing colors, superhero abilities, she played I spy with the kids and gave them each a picture with some art they had to find. It was perfect for the little siblings. Here's the big kid group. Gabriela loved being with her friends and finding so much detail in this huge piece.
Superheroes were the perfect subject for Easton. He excitedly recognized each superhero. There were exhibits of aging superheroes, superheroes doing ordinary everyday activities, normal people attempting superhero feats, and on so many mediums. I would love to go back and take a closer look.
This larger than life crocheted Spider-Man was a hit for both Gabriela and Easton.
Check out all that awesome superhero detail! Easton not only spotted tons of superheroes, but dinosaurs and garbage trucks and even some wizard of oz characters as well. In the background you can see the handknit costumes too.
The kids then did a superhero cuff craft. They thought of their own superhero ability and designed a cuff. Easton's shoots real spider webs and he's been wearing his for weeks.

Then we walked to the park, ate lunch, and the kids all played together. It was such a fun day out with some of our homeschool friends!

Going Away Party

Mina and Caetlin and Weston moved to Oregon last month. We went down to Hollister for one last send off. There was lots of yummy food, guitar playing and singing, and plenty of mischief from the kiddos. Take a look for yourself.
It has rained for days beforehand. I brought rainboots and extra clothes, but even I didn't anticipate this:
Some parents were really upset. But I figured they were having the time of their lives and mud washes off, right?

We delivered some stationary to the cousins and got busy writing our own letters shortly after getting home. We are going to miss you, Clowers. But we are excited for your new adventure, can't wait to hear about it and we glad we have a new place to visit.

A library card for Easton

Easton got his very own library card! He felt so proud and grown up. Getting s library card is a big deal in this homeschooling family!!
