Gabriela loves the little mice in her books. She gets so excited when she points out the mouse in the pages of Goodnight Moon, and she's always searching for a little mouse riding in a car in her Richard Scarry books.
The other night, we heard a noise in our apartment and being the goof that he is, Lane excitedly said it was a mouse. Apparently, Gabriela cemented this experience into her brain immediately. Now, every little sound we hear - whether it's the neighbors or something falling down, or the ice maker in the fridge- Gabriela points to her ear (her sign for I hear something!), her eyes get even bigger than normal, and she proclaims, "MOUSE!"
Now we get to teach her that every little background sound she hears is not in fact, a mouse. Thank goodness.
