Our dear friends, the Swans, invited us up to a cabin in Inverness for the weekend. We drove up Friday night after Lane got home from work. Inverness is such a quiet, peaceful, beautiful and charming little beach town. As soon as we arrived the girls got busy playing together and acting silly.
They enjoyed hot cocoa together.
And the next morning, after a morning bike ride and hike up to a place that looked straight out of Fern Gulley, we packed up and headed to a beautiful beach.Easton played in the sand for the first time. We have been to the beach many times before, but this was the first time he actually put his hands in the sand and was really exploring and tasting it.
The girls love each other. They played for hours in the sand dunes and in the waves.
Brenna stayed far away from the water and was happy to dig holes and build pyramids instead.
Look at these gigantic waves! Gabriela liked pretending that she was using her magic powers to stop the waves from getting too close to her.
After the beach, Easton enjoyed a beer with Daddy.
Well, Easton's bottle was empty, but he knew what to do. He loves beer bottles. I think it's because they are cold and hard and feel good on his gums. After the girls got cleaned up they all put on their Halloween shirts. It was so fun because we didn't plan this at all, and all three of them ended up with striped Halloween shirts. So of course, I had to take photos of them. Getting a good shot of three goofy girls is not easy. Just check out the results:
Later that night, Gabriela bundled up in her bear suit so we could go enjoy s'mores by the fire pit in the backyard. This was her first time enjoying s'mores. I was telling her about them for a few days before we left for the weekend. She kept asking me what those sandwiches are called and asked if we could put sugar in hers. uh, no. It's already a sugar sandwich!!
The girls were impressed by the fireworks Bill provided.
And the s'mores were a great hit.
The girls all went straight to sleep so us grownups got to hang out by the fire, drink some wine and just talk. We enjoyed a wonderful weekend with delicious food, great friends, and so much fun! We left Sunday morning after breakfast so we could go apple picking.
