Today I had to send an email to a colleague at the Dominican Red Cross who I met at my conference in Panama. Since I was already corresponding with her about the affected disaster areas for Tropical Storm Noel, I decided to ask her if Boca Chica was affected. I needed to know if I had to cancel my trip or not. Yeah, it may have been a little inappropriate, but I knew I wouldn't get more accurate information anywhere else.
I was elated to learn that the beaches at Boca Chica were minimally affected. Now I know exactly the areas that were affected and can see them on a map in relation to where I'm going, and can finally breathe a huge sigh of relief.
