Things have definitely been busy around here. We've had goodbye dinners with our friends Leanne & Brian, Laura & John, Adam & Becky, Torin & Raluca, Greg & Eugenia, and two not-quite-yet goodbye dinners with the Schumanns and the Gibsons. We are so lucky that we've made such wonderful friends out on the east coast. People are already talking about taking trips out to CA and all I can say is DO IT! We would love to see you on the west coast!!
Lane and I both had our last days of work on Friday. It really felt strange walking out of work on my last day. It was definitely bittersweet. In the past six months, my workload has changed to really interesting and much more complex casework. I'm sad to see that go and to say goodbye to my co-workers with whom I've spent the last 4.5 years. Lane was bummed about saying goodbye to his friends at work, too. They had a goodbye happy hour for him on Thursday. So now we are unemployed with lots of work to finish up at home.
Friday we met up with Alex & Matt and Sean & Jessica again to bbq and hang out. Later that night, we took a walk downtown to grab some ice cream for dessert. Gabriela was a big fan. We took her back the next morning so Lane and I could get some serious packing done while the Schumanns and Gibsons got in extra Gabriela time. Gabriela held Alex's hand and calmly said "see ya guys" as we left. Such a big girl.
After packing and sorting and purging, we decided maybe we should try to sell some of our furniture on CraigsList. So I got busy taking photos of our stuff and posting things online. One hour later, we had $75 for our kitchen set (which we bought from CraigsList last year for $100). Yesterday someone picked up our massive desk for $300, and Friday we sold our metro cards for $140 - so I can't wait to see what is in store for us today.
Saturday night we had dinner with our friends Torin & Raluca and Greg & Eugenia. When we returned yesterday, it was back to packing. Nearly all our furniture is emptied out, Gabriela's room is full of packed boxes, and we're living out of suitcases. Our next major project to tackle is the kitchen. We have to be finished by tomorrow night, so wish us luck.
Mother's Day was yesterday. It's not so relaxing when you have to pack up your whole apartment. That's okay though. I am scheduled to have a massage the day the movers take all our belongings. It will be much needed. Even though it was moving madness, I got in some extra snuggle time with my little love bug Sunday afternoon.
Gabriela and Keady had a playdate last night. We were supposed to use the time to pack more, but we were so productive that day, we decided to use up our kitchen pantry supplies to bake cookies for Rhonda and Eric. And, I'm not going to lie, I had a taste for cookies also.
