Good Time with Good Friends

What an amazing time we had with our dear friends, Tim and Heather. Tim scored 2 round trip air tickets from his work and decided to bring Heather along for a much talked about reunion in DC. We have been friends with Tim since 7th grade and with Heather since 9th. Even though Lane and I live in DC, Tim’s in CA, and Heather’s been living in Chile for the past three years, we managed to get together and it was like we had never been apart.

Tim & Heather did some touristy exploring on Thursday while Lane and I were at work. But we got to spend all day Friday together. It was wonderful to relax. We enjoyed coffee cake for breakfast and rolled out the door in the early afternoon. We spent some time at the National Gallery of Art, walked by the White House, and then on to the most amazing restaurant in DC! Founding Farmers!!

I had been wanting to try this place for ages, and I can assure you that I will be back. They have a seasonal menu, freshest ingredients, and ohmagoodness, is it ever tasty!!! Gabriela was a huge fan of the bacon wrapped dates stuffed with bleu cheese and drizzled with balsamic vinegar. She kept asking for more. She also enjoyed some lemon scallops, butternut squash risotto and prime rib. We got an order of organic home-churned chocolate ice cream to share between the 5 of us, but I’m pretty sure Gabriela ate the most. She frantically did the sign for please in between bites until the moment she had more ice cream in her mouth, at which point the process started all over again.

Then there was the Halloween fun, which I’ll blog about later, and delicious eats and laughter and catching up, which was the best part of the trip. Tim says he wants to bring Caleb out to visit, and Heather hopes to return to the states sometime soon with her HUSBAND, who I can’t wait to meet. We had such a wonderful visit. Thanks for coming to see us, guys!!!
